Special Educational Needs

For new students, the first review of the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) or Statement of Special Educational Needs is held within 6 months of entering school. In subsequent years, the Annual Review meeting is held as near to the anniversary of each pupil’s EHCP or Statement as possible – in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Practice. Reviews take place with the SENCO (Special Education Needs Co-ordinator), your child and anyone else whom parents/carers feel would make a significant contribution. Interim reviews will be arranged where necessary to assess if the needs of your child are continued to be met. Your child’s EHCP stays with your them as long as they remain in education, up to the age of 25, and will continue to be monitored and reviewed at least annually.

Arrangements are in place, for school to meet the needs / expectations of the SEND reform. Education Health Care plans will be in place in line with the 2014 Code of Practice all statements will transfer to EHCP by April 2018.
